River Restoration with Paul Powlesland
River Restoration with Paul Powlesland
About this course
Journey along the river Roding with Paul and learn how anyone can become a river guardian. From practical actions such as building benches and creating pocket parks, to measuring water quality and dealing with developers, this course is about giving you the confidence to start defending and protecting nature – hands-on.
In many places around the world, nature is viewed and treated as simply a resource, with no rights or inherent value. As seen in Paul’s local river, litter, sewage, and pollution are often able to build up in waterways with little done by local authorities. Similarly, developers are often given permission to remove green spaces that form part of the river’s ecosystem. However, when individuals step up and start restoring their rivers and creating a community around them, they have the power to defend nature and to demonstrate the value of the river.
Enabling public access, building paths, creating space for wildlife and even just starting an online group of fellow river restorers are all simple but powerful actions. Join the course and start River Restoration with Paul Powlesland today.
